Transgender girl dies after breast augmentation at illegal clinic

Before this incident, the fake doctor had performed cosmetic surgery on about 1,500 people.

Transgender woman Jiratchaya Kampoon, who lived in Thailand, died after undergoing breast augmentation surgery at a clinic in Lam Pang province at a cost of 35,000 baht (about 24 million VND). An autopsy showed that she suffocated after her lung collapsed.

After 3 hours of surgery, the transgender girl fell into a coma, was taken to a local hospital in a state of unconsciousness and died.

The person who performed the breast augmentation surgery on the victim was a fake doctor named Thanatpong Jittheerapirom. According to the Bangkok Post, he admitted to performing the breast augmentation on the victim and promised to compensate the family.

After the incident, Thanatpong went into hiding in Pattaya for 12 days before being arrested by local police.

Thanatpong, 29, a resident of Bangkok, did not have a license to practice. However, he claimed to have experience in cosmetic surgery, having worked as an assistant to doctors at several clinics and doing research in the field.

The fake doctor did not expect Jiratchaya to die. This is the first death since he opened his clinic in May. Up to the time of the incident, Thanatpong had performed 1,500 cosmetic surgeries without any problems.

Thanatpong said he did not know what happened to patient Jiratchaya. He only guessed that the transgender girl was tired due to lack of sleep and not eating enough, leading to complications after the surgery.

Thanatpong was taken by police from Pattaya to the clinic in Lampang to reconstruct the crime scene. The fake doctor’s clinic operated without a license. The clinic had previously applied for a license but was not approved by the authorities.
