At around 6:15 a.m. on November 13, a loud explosion occurred from a two-story house with seven residents in Group 8, Chua Hang Ward (Thai Nguyen City). The explosion killed Ms. Vu Thi Dan (67 years old) on the spot, and her nephew Cuong (17 years old) suffered minor injuries to his right arm and ribs. Police suspect that explosives were planted at the scene.
According to a source, on the morning of November 13, Mrs. Dan opened the door for Cuong to go to school. When he reached the yard, the old woman turned back to close the door and an explosion was heard. Cuong was standing about 10 meters away from Mrs. Dan.
The explosives caused the door to deform and the glass to shatter. Part of the corrugated iron roof collapsed and the furniture was severely damaged. Many houses in the same row had broken glass, peeling plaster, and long cracks.
Ms. Dan's son said he was sleeping soundly when he heard a loud explosion. He ran outside and discovered that the explosion was right in his house... "Maybe someone took revenge on my family," he said, affirming that his family had no conflict with anyone.
A neighbor across the street from Ms. Dan’s house said “the explosion was as loud as a bomb” and smoke filled the air. “After a few minutes of calming down, I discovered Ms. Dan’s body in front of the house, which was not intact,” he said.
