Vietnamese policewoman 'makes' Russian President Putin shake hands in thanks
As one of 20 outstanding female traffic police officers selected to participate in ensuring traffic order and safety at the APEC 2017 Summit Week in Da Nang, Captain Do Thi Thu Thuy was even more honored to be the only one to receive a handshake and words of thanks from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Captain Do Thi Thu Thuy said that it was on the afternoon of November 11, when she and her teammates were on duty to see off Russian President Vladimir Putin's delegation from Da Nang International Airport to return home, successfully concluding the activities within the framework of the APEC 2017 Summit Week.

Upon arriving at the airport, Russian President Putin approached, shook hands and thanked her. "I was extremely surprised by the simple and warm action of Russian President Vladimir Putin. I quickly thanked President Vladimir Putin as well as his sentiments in particular and that of Russia in general for providing emergency aid to Vietnam to overcome the damage caused by the recent flood and storm Damrey (storm No. 12). Until now, I still feel moved and proud," said Captain Do Thi Thuy Thuy.
Captain Do Thi Thu Thuy is currently working at the Department of Guidance and Organization to Ensure Order and Safety of Railway Traffic. When assigned to the task force serving the Traffic Police at the APEC Summit Week, Captain Do Thi Thu Thuy made every effort, put aside all family matters, left her two young children with her mother-in-law to travel to Da Nang, coordinated with other police forces to practice and rehearse protection plans to quickly get up to speed with the work, improve knowledge, health and basic skills to be ready to "combat" when ordered.
