Nghe An pays 120 billion VND to frontline workers

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 17, Steering Committee 24 of the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to review 2 years of implementing Decision 49 of the Prime Minister on the regime and policies for frontline laborers participating in resistance wars to protect the Fatherland and performing international duties.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference. Attending the conference were Major General Nguyen Duc Hoa - Deputy Political Commissar, Head of Steering Committee 24 of Military Region 4, and representatives of leaders of districts, cities and towns.

Nghe An is the province with the second largest number of people participating in the frontline labor force compared to the whole country. According to the initial survey, there were over 152,460 people; however, to date, nearly 158,000 applications have been requested for review.

After 2 years of implementation, the Steering Committee 24 (SC24) of the province, district, policy councils of communes, wards, towns, Party committees, local authorities, departments, branches, unions and functional agencies at all levels have thoroughly grasped and synchronously implemented seriously, closely, and in accordance with procedures, ensuring democracy, publicity, and promoting the combined strength of the entire political system.

Up to now, 115,250 applications have been reviewed and 95,200 applications have been proposed to Military Region 4, resolving over 52,000 cases with a total amount of more than 120 billion VND.

Through implementation, it has timely expressed gratitude to those who have contributed to the revolution, strengthened people's trust in the Party, State and Army, consolidated the people's hearts to maintain political security - social order and safety and contributed to ensuring social security in the area.

Although achieving very good results, leading Military Region 4 and the whole country, with common difficulties, that is, most of the frontline laborers have died, the rest are old and weak; there are no records; they do not remember clearly the time, place, assigned work... during the time of being a frontline laborer, so the work of making records encountered many difficulties. Some subjects who went to perform international missions in Laos after April 30, 1975 had their records returned, causing disadvantages, creating a bad mentality...

Speaking at the conference, comrade Le Xuan Dai - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the results of implementing Decision 49 of the Prime Minister on the frontline civilian labor regime of the Steering Committee of 24 provinces in the past 2 years.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also emphasized that despite great efforts, the number of applications and subjects who have not received the regime is still large, so the Steering Committee 24 at all levels needs to take drastic action to promptly resolve the issues for the right subjects. In addition, it is necessary to ensure fairness in reviewing the right subjects, not leaving out any people to honor those who have contributed to the revolution./.
