Swallows 'land' in Nghia Dan (Nghe An), who protects them?
(Baonghean.vn) - These days, hundreds of thousands of swallows have gathered in many areas of Nghia Lam and Nghia Dan communes (Nghe An) near sunflower fields, attracting the attention of local people. What is of concern is that many people are looking for ways to catch and destroy these lovely birds.
Locals said this was strange, because swallows usually return in spring, but this year they arrived early and in greater numbers. The birds flew all over the sky, perched on electric wires, treetops, and grasslands, creating beautiful images.

In recent times, Nghia Dan has taken many measures to prevent the extermination of wild birds, but with the phenomenon of swallows "landing" on a large scale, many bird hunters have also "taken advantage" to earn extra income. Mr. Dung, hamlet 6, Nghia Son commune said that he earns 300,000 VND per day from hunting swallows.
Previously, bird hunting in Nghia Dan was widespread. Faced with this situation, Nghia Dan Forest Protection Department coordinated with local authorities to propagate to people to understand that bird hunting is illegal and needs to be prevented.

The authorities of communes and towns also encourage people to detect cases of bird hunting and report them to local authorities for handling. Some cases, when discovered, had their tools confiscated and they pledged not to violate the law.
However, the hunting of swallows still occurs, many hunters still intentionally trap birds. Detection and handling are also very difficult when the hunting location changes frequently, depending on where the birds live.
This year, the swallows in Nghia Dan are also being threatened because many people in the area are still setting up nets to hunt them.
