Brazilian police kill two robbers while holding baby
A Brazilian police officer had a bloody shootout with two robbers while buying medicine with his wife and children.
According to Independent, Rafael Souza, his wife and young son had just entered a pharmacy in Sao Paulo on the afternoon of November 19 when two armed robbers broke in.
One of the men, Jefferson Alves, 24, pointed a gun at Souza. The sergeant also announced himself as a police officer and pulled out his gun.
Surveillance cameras show Souza holding his son in one arm and holding a gun in the other, shooting Alves at close range.
Souza then handed his son to his wife, who was hiding behind a shelf, and continued shooting the second suspect, Italo Creato, 22.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, both robbers were dead.
Souza told investigators he shot and killed the two robbers because he believed they might shoot first because they knew he was a police officer.
Investigators are examining weapons seized at the scene and surveillance cameras to clarify the incident.
