In this match, MU completely dominated and created many opportunities towards Basel's goal but failed to take advantage of them, and then had to pay the price with a goal at the end of the match. Losing this match, MU had to wait until the last round to be able to register their name in the knockout round.

After the match, coach Mourinho said in disappointment: “What can I say about this defeat? We lost because we didn’t know how to score. Manchester United completely dominated and the score should have been 5-0 in the first half. When you can’t score in a dominant match, you will inevitably pay the price. This is an expensive lesson for the players.”

Coach Mourinho also spoke up to defend defender Daley Blind - the player who made the mistake that led to MU's loss. "The Special One" continued: "I don't think Daley Blind is at fault for this loss, because he had a good match. If I have to blame, I blame all the players, because they don't know how to put the ball in the opponent's net."

Despite being disappointed with his players' performance, coach Mourinho also reassured fans by declaring that MU will defeat CSKA Moscow to win the ticket to continue in the top position of the group. "Everything is still under our control. However, after what we have shown, only a victory against CSKA Moscow will satisfy the fans. This is also what Manchester United is aiming for in the match against CSKA Moscow and we will not let the fans down again."
