Useful tips to increase battery life for iPhone X
Without having to use additional battery extension accessories, you can apply some of the following tricks to help optimize battery life for Apple's most advanced iPhone X.
Change wallpaper
The iPhone X has an OLED display, so you can take advantage of its power-saving potential by simply switching to a black wallpaper. According to reports, if you use a black wallpaper instead of the default wallpaper on the iPhone X, its total power usage will be reduced by 20%.
Use a black or at least dark wallpaper for iPhone X. |
Of course, if you feel that a completely black wallpaper is boring to look at, you can take advantage of wallpapers with a dominant dark color, although the power saving ability is not as high. You can do this through the wallpaper setting section of the settings.
Use dark mode for supported apps
The iOS interface is bright, vibrant, and colorful. These are specific aspects that Apple brings to provide a better software experience and are not customizable, but many apps can adopt their own color schemes.
Changing the dark theme is done in the app settings. |
For example, Spotify or Clock on iOS all use dark mode. It will be very useful to save energy. In addition, some other apps offer dark mode as an option, such as Twitter, Reddit, Wikipedia… which you can change in the settings menu.
Apps like Amazon Kindle and Apple iBooks can be adjusted to display white text on a black background instead of the default black on white… All of this will save a lot of energy by taking advantage of the OLED display.
Use the hidden dark mode in iOS
One interesting thing about Apple’s modern iOS operating system is that it has a built-in feature called Invert Smart. When activated, this mode will invert the colors of elements in the user interface but not change certain content such as photos or videos.
Smart Invert is a hidden feature in iOS that you can take advantage of to save battery for iPhone X. |
And since the iOS interface is dominated by white backgrounds and bright colors, inverting them will put you in dark mode just like with individual apps. You can enable iOS’s Smart Invert feature in the Settings menu, then go to Accessibility > Display.
That's why inverting colors isn't recommended on the iPhone X, so you should only use it when you really need to save power.
