Woman faces legal consequences for allegedly "beating and tearing the skin" of Facebook friend.

(Baonghean.vn) - Believing that Lan Anh wrote on Facebook with the intention of slandering him, Tho went to her house, scratched and hit her head with a rock, causing the victim 11% disability.

On the morning of November 24th, the Vinh City People's Court (Nghe An province) opened the first-instance trial of the case of intentional infliction of injury against Truong Anh Trang Tho (26 years old, residing in Trung Do ward, Vinh City).

The victim in this case is Ms. Dam Thi Lan Anh (36 years old, residing in Vinh City). Both the defendant and the victim in this case sell goods online and were once close friends on Facebook.

According to the indictment, on July 11th, Ms. Dam Thi Lan Anh shared an article on her personal Facebook page, which has tens of thousands of followers, that advertised "pork sausage but actually contained pork sausage" to criticize this behavior. Because she herself was also selling pork sausage online, Tho believed that Ms. Lan Anh's post was intended to defame her and negatively impact her business, so she messaged her to "question" her.

After exchanging messages on Facebook, that same evening, Tho went to Lan Anh's house to confront her. "Tho grabbed Lan Anh's hair, dragged her out onto the street, and beat and scratched her, causing abrasions and bleeding on her face. Before leaving, Tho also picked up a stone and hit the victim on the head…," the indictment from the Prosecutor's Office stated.

The police from Hung Binh ward (Vinh City) then arrived and drew up a report on the incident. The investigating agency determined that the victim sustained the following injuries: “a 2 cm long, 1 cm wide, irregularly shaped skin abrasion on the top of the head; a circular swelling 3 cm in diameter on the forehead; two lacerations; and two bruises.”

The conclusion of the Nghe An Provincial Forensic Center later determined that Ms. Dam Thi Lan Anh suffered injuries resulting in an 11% disability rating.

During the investigation, the victim requested compensation for cosmetic surgery and hospital fees totaling 60 million VND.

At the trial, the defendant admitted to all the acts stated in the indictment and apologized to the victim.

The court ruled that the act of striking the victim on the head with a rock constituted the use of a dangerous weapon, posing a danger to society, and therefore sentenced Truong Anh Trang Tho to two years in prison, suspended. In addition, the defendant was ordered to pay nearly 10 million VND in compensation to the victim. Prior to the trial, Tho had voluntarily paid 5 million VND of this amount.
