Workers want to build a kindergarten in the industrial park

(Baonghean.vn) - Workers in the Southeast Economic Zone proposed building kindergartens in industrial parks to reduce the difficulty of workers taking their children to and from school.

On the morning of November 24, the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union held its second congress for the 2017-2022 term. Comrade Nguyen Ky Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation attended and directed the congress.

Nghe An currently has 17,353 workers in the Industrial Park; the total number of union members under the Southeast Economic Zone Union is 11,445 people. Age from 20 - 35, of which female workers account for 80%; the average income per capita in the enterprise up to now is 4.1 - 4.58 million VND.

During the past term, the trade union activities of the Southeast Economic Zone have closely followed the direction of the Provincial Labor Federation and the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board to propose appropriate programs, plans, and methods of operation.

With the spirit of solidarity and high sense of responsibility, the Dong Nam Economic Zone Trade Union has focused on the grassroots, directed and organized practical and effective activities, promoting the role of the trade union in the development of society and enterprises. Thanks to that, it has successfully completed 12/14 targets of the Resolution of the 1st Congress, term 2012 - 2017.

In particular, typical targets include the development of union members, establishment of grassroots unions (17 new grassroots unions were established with over 7,000 union members, bringing the total number of newly developed union members to 9,262 people); targets on creative topics or technical innovation initiatives (there have been 70 technical innovation initiatives by workers, benefiting businesses 10.6 billion VND); propaganda and dissemination of policies related to workers are focused on; the work of participating in management, supervision and representation to protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers is promoted...

In addition, many sports and cultural activities have been organized, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate, regularly visiting and encouraging workers. The Dong Nam Economic Zone Trade Union proactively coordinated with the authorities to promptly and effectively resolve the illegal strike at Bac Vinh Industrial Park, affirming the role of the trade union organization for employers and creating trust with workers.

Speaking at the congress, delegates highly agreed with the goals and tasks of the trade union in the coming term, with a number of targets: 65% of enterprises organize workers' conferences in accordance with regulations; 80% of enterprises organize dialogue well; 70% of enterprises negotiate and sign collective agreements; 95% of complaints and denunciations from workers are received, resolved or transferred to competent authorities for resolution within the prescribed time; 80% of workers at enterprises are propagandized about the Party's policies and guidelines, and legal policies related to workers...

In addition, delegates also recommended building kindergartens in industrial parks to reduce difficulties for workers in taking their children to and from school; installing new, upgrading and repairing traffic systems and lighting systems; strengthening coordination in checking food safety and hygiene, kitchens to avoid mass poisoning incidents that affect the health and psychology of workers...

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Ky Son acknowledged and highly appreciated the activities of the Dong Nam Economic Zone Trade Union during the past term. Especially in the work of supervising the quality of shift meals, food safety and hygiene, taking care of occupational safety and hygiene, fire safety...

In particular, organizing Tet Sum Vay has brought about a very good effect, helping workers feel secure in their work and work enthusiastically.

At the same time, it is recommended that the Trade Union Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 term continue to promote the achievements that have been made, in which it is necessary to continue to coordinate with the Management Board and enterprises to take care of building and perfecting policies and regimes, ensuring the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers. Especially pay attention to employment, social insurance regimes, occupational safety and hygiene, the quality of collective labor agreements...

At the congress, delegates elected the 15-member Executive Committee of the second term of the union, Mr. Vuong An Nguyen continued to hold the position of Chairman of the union; elected 7 delegates to attend the higher-level union.
