Nghe An Border Guard: 10 years of arresting over 416 heroin cakes, nearly 77 thousand drug pills

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 27, the Nghe An Border Guard Party Committee held a conference to review 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 10NQ/DU of the Border Guard Party Committee on improving the quality and effectiveness of drug crime prevention and control work and building a specialized force for drug prevention and control of the Border Guard in the new situation.

After 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 10-NQ/DU, the Party Committee of Nghe An Provincial Border Guard, Party committees and commanders of affiliated units have thoroughly grasped and seriously implemented it, creating a profound change in awareness and action among cadres, Party members, and drug and crime prevention forces.

The specialized force for drug and crime prevention of the provincial Border Guard has been built in sufficient quantity and quality, thereby promoting efficiency in performing tasks; destroying many dangerous, transnational drug crime lines and gangs; many hot spots for complicated drug trading and use in the border area of ​​Nghe An province have been gradually pushed back. From 2007 to present, the drug and crime prevention force of Nghe An Border Guard has detected, fought, handled, prosecuted and handed over to the police 585 cases/763 subjects; seized 416 cakes + 24,385.384 grams of heroin; nearly 154 kg of opium, 40.3 kg of marijuana, over 76 thousand synthetic drug pills, 16 guns of various types, 276 bullets, 4 grenades and many other related exhibits...

In coordination work, the drug prevention force of Nghe An Border Guard has cooperated with domestic and international functional forces in the fight against drugs and crime with high efficiency.

The highlight is the coordination with the work of 3 provinces (Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, Poolykham Xay) sharing the border with Laos to successfully fight 15 special cases, 10 drug trafficking and transportation lines, arrest 36 subjects, seize 309 heroin cakes and many other related evidences.

Regarding the propaganda work to resolve the complicated situation of drugs on the Vietnam - Laos border, the force has been organized to grasp the area, coordinate with localities to propagate and mobilize people to actively participate in the fight against drugs and crime, organize meetings of people and villages to review, educate and deter those involved in buying, selling, transporting, storing and using drugs to assist criminals.

To continue to effectively implement Resolution No. 10-NQ/DU; in the coming time, Nghe An Border Guard will identify a number of policies and solutions such as: Continuing to seriously implement resolutions and directives of the Party, programs and plans of the Ministry of National Defense, Border Guard Command, Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee on the fight against drugs and crime.

Regularly do a good job of political and ideological education, improve the professional skills of officers and soldiers, meet the requirements of the task; proactively advise local Party committees and authorities on solutions to control and resolve drug activities in border areas.

Implement well the motto of prevention as the main focus, combine with resolute attacks on crimes, gradually prevent and repel drug abuse in border areas and coastal areas; innovate and improve the quality and efficiency of basic professional activities; coordinate with functional forces to combat and promptly prevent all types of crimes.
