The selected designs must ensure quality, meet artistic standards; ensure historical and contemporary values are conveyed on the stamp content; at the same time, they must meet the needs and tastes of domestic and international stamp collectors...

Accordingly, the stamp set "Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the death of Nguyen Trung Truc (1838-1868)" will include 1 design, selected from 3 designs. Nguyen Trung Truc's real name is Nguyen Van Lich, from Binh Dinh, he was the leader of the uprising against the French in Tan An (now Long An province) and Rach Gia (now Kien Giang province).

On December 11, 1861, Nguyen Trung Truc and his army burned the Espérance ship anchored at Nhat Tao wharf. After this victory, a series of attacks on the river continued, causing many losses in human lives and property to the enemy.

The stamp set "Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the death of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc" is designed with two basic details: a portrait of Nguyen Trung Truc and an image of his historic battle.

The National Stamp Advisory Council also selected a design for the stamp set “Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Nguyen Hong’s birth (1918-1982)” consisting of 1 stamp. Writer Nguyen Hong (real name Nguyen Nguyen Hong) was born on November 5, 1918 in Vu Ban, Nam Dinh.

Nguyen Hong was orphaned as a child. When he grew up, he was soon enlightened about the revolution and participated in patriotic movements. He was captured by the enemy many times and suffered many tortures, but he still steadfastly participated in the literary creation movements of the National Culture Salvation Association.

Writer Nguyen Hong died at the age of 64, leaving behind more than 40 literary works. He was one of the writers awarded the first Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts by the State in 1996.

The design of the stamp set "Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Nguyen Hong's birth" depicts the portrait of writer Nguyen Hong in a realistic style, depicting the elegant and rustic demeanor of the famous writer who always stood on the side of the working people.

The stamp background shows the cover of the book “Bi Vo” - one of the typical novels that brought him fame in the Vietnamese literary world, followed by the scenery of Tam Bac wharf - Hai Phong, the setting in the above novel. The stamp background is warm brown, showing the writer's close and rustic personality.

The third stamp set to be issued in the last 6 months of 2018 is the stamp set “Animals of Kon Ka Kinh National Park”, including 4 designs and 1 block. Kon Ka Kinh National Park is a priority area for biodiversity conservation in Vietnam located in Gia Lai province.

In addition to the diversity and richness of forest fauna, Kon Ka Kinh National Park plays an important role in protecting the headwaters of rivers, providing irrigation water for the Gia Lai and Kon Tum regions.

The artist who designed the stamp set used a realistic style, expressing the connection between nature and rare animals, typical of this place such as Kon Ka Kinh Laughingthrush, Natalia Oro reptile, Truong Son Muntjac, and Spotted-winged Elephant Trunk. The four stamps were also included in the stamp block in a natural space that co-exists in the correct habitat in Kon Ka Kinh National Park.

The fourth stamp set of the theme “Vietnam’s National Treasures (Set I)” has the theme “Bronze”, including 4 designs. This stamp set will introduce to the domestic and international public 4 famous bronze treasures of Vietnam including: Bronze lamp shaped like a kneeling person (Dong Son culture, National History Museum), Nui Nua short sword (Dong Son culture, Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum), Hop Minh bronze jar (Dong Son culture, Yen Bai Provincial Museum), Bronze belt buckle set (Dong Son culture, Hung Temple historical relic site, Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province).

These are artifacts of special cultural and historical value that are protected and preserved by the Vietnamese State under a separate regime.
