(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 1, the Provincial Population Steering Committee coordinated with the People's Committee of Do Luong district to organize the launching ceremony in response to the National Action Month on Population in 2017.

Also attending were comrade Le Canh Nhac - Deputy Director General of the General Department of Population and Family Planning, representatives of relevant departments, branches and sectors and a large number of people from Do Luong district.

The National Action Month on Population 2017 is implemented with the theme "Implementing screening and early diagnosis of prenatal and neonatal diseases to improve population quality". Through this, many activities will be organized to raise awareness, consciousness and responsibility of Party committees at all levels, authorities, unions, social organizations and people of all walks of life in the face of challenges, difficulties and the importance of population and development work for the health of each person, each family and the sustainable development of the country and the province.

The launching ceremony is an important and extremely meaningful activity to gradually concretize the contents of the 6th Central Conference, 12th term on population work in the new situation.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, comrade Le Canh Nhac - Deputy Director General of the General Department of Population and Family Planning highly appreciated the enthusiasm and responsibility of those working in population work in Nghe An.

He also said: The whole country has reached the replacement level of fertility since 2005 and has been stable for more than 10 years. However, the population work of the whole country in general and Nghe An in particular is facing many challenges, especially when Nghe An is still one of the few provinces that has not reached the replacement level of fertility and is one of the 14 provinces with the highest fertility rate in the country.

Faced with this reality, to shift the focus from population and family planning to population and development, the province's population work in the coming time requires the attention of all levels, sectors and the enthusiasm of the population work team.

At the same time, synchronously deploy many solutions to gradually improve population quality, considering the task of reducing birth rate as the key task. In addition, it is necessary to propose solutions to promote the advantages of the "golden population" structure and respond to "population aging".
