"We learned from Ambassador Huntsman that for the US, issues of international law and territorial integrity are very important. Is this a new trend: previously, for Kosovo, Iraq, Libya, things were completely different," Pushkov wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, the US Ambassador to Russia said that lifting sanctions on Moscow could only be done after "resolving the Ukraine issue".

At the same time, Mr. Huntsman explained that Washington intervened in the conflict in Donbass, because it is important for the United States "issues of international law and territorial integrity."

First Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federation Council (Russian Upper House) Vladimir Jabarov called Huntsman's statement unconvincing and reiterated that Moscow is not a party to the internal conflict.
