"After years of James Comey's sham and dishonest investigation into Clinton (and more), the FBI's reputation is in tatters, the worst it has ever been. But don't worry, we will get it back," US President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter on December 3, criticizing the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to CBS News.
The US President's statement came after an FBI agent was removed from the investigation team into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election by special prosecutor Robert Mueller. The FBI agent sent anti-Trump text messages.
The US President said that this employee had degraded morale and was disloyal. He emphasized that FBI Director Christopher Wray "needs to clean house", implying that the agency needs to carry out personnel reforms in the near future.
On the same day, the White House boss affirmed that he never asked Mr. Comey to stop investigating former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who recently pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his ties to Russia during and after the 2016 election.
Mr. Flynn is the first of several former Trump administration officials to be indicted in Mueller's investigation into alleged Russian interference in the US election.
He is the fourth person linked to the Trump campaign to be indicted in the investigation. Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and deputy Rick Gates were indicted last month but have pleaded not guilty. George Papadopoulos, a foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with officials linked to the Russian government.
