When VFF still trusts Mr. Duc

(Baonghean) - On December 2, the annual congress of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) took place. At this congress, many issues arising from the past football season were discussed, including the content that attracted much attention, which was the VFF Executive Committee considering the resignation of Vice President Doan Nguyen Duc.

The story of Mr. Duc writing his resignation letter originated from the failure of U22 Vietnam at the 29th SEA Games. This is probably the SEA Games that the country's football fans most expected in terms of "changing the color of the medal" of football, when we have the most well-trained squad of players ever. That is why Mr. Duc declared "if we don't win the gold medal at this SEA Games, we will never be able to do it" and "if U22 doesn't win the gold medal, I will resign immediately". But in the end, U22 Vietnam with the core of players from Mr. Duc's HAGL JMG Academy was painfully eliminated right from the group stage.

According to experts, this failure reflects the level of our young players who can play impressively in some youth tournaments and friendly tournaments, but when entering the professional football environment and the harsh major tournaments, they have not performed as expected and have not been able to reach the same level as Thailand - the most fierce rival in Southeast Asia.

The failure of U22 at SEA Games was also a "humiliating failure" for Mr. Duc, because he had spent a lot of effort and money investing in youth football but the results were not as expected, and for a gentleman like Mr. Duc, what he said was what he did and he wrote his resignation letter as Vice President of VFF right after U22 Vietnam said goodbye to SEA Games 29.

In fact, for Vietnamese football, Mr. Duc is still a prestigious and dedicated person, with a love for football that is not for profit that is hard to match. The proof is that after submitting the application to VFF, he still took the trouble to go to Korea to find a head coach for the national team. HAGL Club is still invested in by him, inviting foreign coaches to lead the team. In the context of Vietnamese football being increasingly turned away by bosses, Mr. Duc is a bright spot for the "socialization" of football movement that VFF is hoping to build.

Therefore, at this annual congress of VFF, 24/25 members of the VFF Executive Committee voted to let Mr. Duc stay until the end of his term. Because at the present time, it is difficult to find someone with enough prestige to replace Mr. Duc to shoulder the "prison and general" work at VFF. Therefore, the members of the VFF Executive Committee still trust and hope that Mr. Duc will stay to help VFF overcome the current difficult period.
