(Baonghean) - With the efforts of all levels, sectors and people, in the first 11 months of 2017, localities in the province have planted forests on schedule. Many districts with large forest planting areas such as: Con Cuong, Quy Hop, Quy Chau, Tan Ky, Tuong Duong also exceeded the assigned targets.

In Tuong Duong district, the forest planting movement is quite strong. This year, the district was assigned to plant 1,000 hectares, but the whole district has planted 1,650 hectares, exceeding 50%.

To encourage people to plant forests, the district allocated 1.5 billion VND from the budget to support people with seedlings purchased from Tuong Duong Forestry Company to ensure quality. The district also invited May Forestry Joint Stock Company to discuss solutions to coordinate the development of raw material areas.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 11 months of 2017, the whole province planted over 17,646 hectares of forest, an increase of 0.5% over the same period last year. Of which, protective forests and special-use forests are estimated at 279 hectares, raw material forests are 17,367 hectares, mainly planted with hybrid acacia, with about over 3,000 hectares of large timber forests concentrated in Nghia Dan, Tuong Duong, and Tan Ky.

Forestry output in 11 months was quite good, with 468,484 m3 of wood exploited, up 22.29% over the same period last year. Timber output increased sharply from planted forests of projects and households that were ready for harvest and used as raw materials for processing industries such as plywood, wood chips, paper materials and construction needs.

To develop the forestry industry, many localities propose: The State needs to have policies to develop export and transportation routes to serve forestry production. Policies to access long-term loans with reasonable interest rates to serve infrastructure construction and forest planting, care and protection. Because currently people mainly invest in forest planting themselves, each person does it on their own, so the efficiency is not high.
