Nghe An needs to select production objects for high-tech agriculture
(Baonghean.vn) - Attending a workshop on high-tech agriculture in Nghe An, delegates said that it is necessary to choose production objects suitable to market demand.
On the morning of December 9, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a workshop on planning high-tech agricultural areas in Nghe An province until 2020, with a vision to 2030. Attending the workshop were comrades Nguyen The Trung - former Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Ho Xuan Hung - former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; and many scientists and agricultural experts in the province. |
By the end of 2016, Nghe An had 9,502 hectares of agricultural cultivation area applying CNC, accounting for 3.1% of the agricultural cultivation area, of which 6,768 hectares were invested by people and 2,734 hectares were invested by enterprises; the average production value was from 200-250 million VND/ha/year, 2-3 times higher than mass agricultural production.
The total herd of dairy cows applying CNC is 47,600; the total herd of pigs applying CNC is 13,300, nearly 70 farms applying CNC.
The total area of white-leg shrimp farming applying Vietgap process reached 150 hectares, with profits increasing by 20-30% compared to traditional farming.

At the workshop, delegates contributed ideas on a number of solutions to develop CNC agriculture in Nghe An province, such as: It is necessary to set out criteria to select subjects first and then select CNC agricultural production areas, not to invest widely and avoid subsidy thinking; set out specific criteria to select appropriate technology for each subject; must bring solutions to ensure traffic and electricity in CNC production areas.

Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh - Director of the Department of Science and Technology suggested: it is necessary to pay attention to infrastructure conditions in CNC application production areas. Photo: Phu Huong |
In the issue of linking businesses and farmers, there needs to be an appropriate approach to avoid cases of contract breaking; focus on encouraging businesses to build processing factories...
The goal is to increase income per unit area; agricultural production must ensure sufficient raw materials for processing factories and be loyal to investors.

The problem is that some agricultural and livestock products, although low in price and difficult to get rich, such as rice and peanuts, if the crop fails, will greatly affect people's lives. The agricultural sector needs to have solutions to direct and intensify farming to increase productivity.
Currently, there are 4 food groups with high consumption levels: vegetables and fruits, processed seafood products, high-quality clean drinks and functional foods. On that basis, opinions suggest that Nghe An province needs to forecast product consumption demand to guide farmers to produce products that are in demand in the market.
The province must also take measures to prevent enterprises from converting and misusing agricultural production areas applying CNC, and at the same time have strong and reasonable policy mechanisms to attract enterprises to apply CNC agricultural production; pay attention to building Nghe An agricultural product brands; and encourage some agricultural production models combined with tourism.
