Crispy and fragrant Nghia Dan guava is popular with customers.

For many years, Nghia Son and Nghia Lam communes have been known to many people near and far for their specialty fruit “Le Guava”. To increase the production value per unit area, many guava growers here have built production models according to VietGAP standards.

In particular, since September 2017, after the establishment of the 19/5 Agricultural Service Production Cooperative, this model has been effective, creating a connection between farmers, authorities, scientists and businesses to create a chain linking production and product consumption.

Mr. Phan Van Phuoc - Son Ha hamlet, Nghia Son commune said: "We are very excited to join the Cooperative because after participating in the fair twice in Hanoi and Vinh city, we see that our products have traceability stamps, so they are very valuable and consumers can confidently choose them."

Pear guava can be planted at any time of the year. Short growth period, high fruit set rate and yield, harvested all year round. The tree trunk is hard, strong, good resistance to pests and diseases. The fruit has a stable pear shape, smooth skin, white flesh, crispy and sweet taste, few seeds, fragrant and rich in nutrients.

When the fruit is as big as a thumb, you must use a specialized bag to cover the fruit. Covering the fruit will help the fruit avoid harmful insects and help the guava fruit to be delicious, ensuring hygiene and food safety. This guava variety does not need much fertilizer and has very few pests, so it does not cost much to invest.

After each harvest, the branches must be pruned so that the tree can continue to sprout, flower and bear fruit. Currently, the agricultural cooperative has 35 members specializing in guava cultivation, with an area of nearly 35 hectares.

To ensure product transparency and ensure no mixing of goods, the Cooperative will strictly control product quality and randomly sample shipments. In the coming time, the Cooperative will focus on directing the expansion of the planting area of fruit trees that are well-known in Nghia Dan.
