(Baonghean.vn) - After numerous notifications failed to get the offender to come forward, authorities later checked the vehicle's chassis and engine numbers and discovered it was stolen property from a theft two years prior.

On December 14th, Captain Nguyen Anh Dung, an officer of the Traffic Police Team of Vinh City Police, completed the procedures to return the Exciter motorbike with license plate 37M1-547.51 to Mr. Nguyen Kim Khanh (born in 1996, residing in Nam Anh commune, Nam Dan district).

Captain Nguyen Anh Dung stated that the vehicle recently returned by the authorities was the stolen property that had been discovered and temporarily seized by a task force from the Traffic Police Team of Vinh City Police Department.

Specifically, on the morning of August 9, 2016, while the task force was on duty on Le Duan Street (Vinh City), they spotted a young man driving a motorbike with license plate 60B4 - 347.42 violating traffic regulations by driving in the wrong lane, so they ordered him to stop for inspection.

At this point, the offender identified himself as Nguyen Viet Bac (born in 1996, residing in Lien Tan hamlet, Bong Khe, Con Cuong). The young man then claimed he had forgotten to bring his vehicle documents and left.

When the scheduled time for processing arrived, the traffic police repeatedly sent summonses for the violator to come in for processing, but he did not respond. Upon contacting the local authorities, the officers learned that the name and address the young man had provided were fake. After checking the vehicle's chassis and engine numbers, the police discovered that the owner was Nguyen Kim Khanh (born in 1996, residing in Nam Anh commune, Nam Dan district) and contacted him to return the vehicle.

Mr. Khanh stated that in October 2015, he and his father were riding their motorbike to work in the fields when thieves broke the lock and stole it. Mr. Khanh then reported the incident to the police to find the motorbike, but it took two years to recover his property.
