Gia Ba Ly was born into a poor family of 3 siblings in Huoi Poc village. When he was born, Ly was normal like any other child. When he was 3 years old, he had pink eye. Thinking it was just a common eye pain, his parents used traditional medicine to treat it. When they realized that this outdated treatment could have a big impact on their son's eyes, it was too late. Ly was permanently blind in both eyes.

Everyone thought that after that incident, the life of the boy Gia Ba Ly would forever be stuck in the kitchen, groping in the dark, cramped house. But Ly changed everyone's thoughts about him. Although his eyes could no longer see, Ba Ly still had enthusiasm and a strong heart. Ly decided to follow his friends to school and class. His eyes could not see, but his ears could still listen and his head constantly received information.

After finishing high school, in 2011, impressed by Ba Ly's diligence and hard work, Lau Y Tong, a girl from Muong Long commune, voluntarily followed him to become his wife, and then two daughters were born. Although life was not very prosperous, this small family was always filled with laughter.

In 2012, with the help of relatives, Ba Ly's family had a pair of cows for breeding. After 5 years of diligent care, now Ba Ly's family has a herd of 8 cows, plus gardening and poultry farming... each year also brings in an income of 35 - 40 million VND.

The 28-year-old man shared: "I both study and work. It's very hard. I like to go to school, just by listening I finished grade 9, then I went to school and work in Vinh. Until now I have built a temporary house for my wife and children to live in. Now life is much better than before."

When Gia Ba Ly's family life had gone through a difficult period, it was also the time for him to fulfill his dream. That was to register for an office computer course in Hanoi; to attend an English communication course in Vinh city. The special thing is that even though he was blind, Ly could still compose documents and use the computer proficiently.

Overcoming his inferiority complex, Gia Ba Ly became a very active person in social activities. Currently, he is holding the position of Vice President of the Association of the Blind in Ky Son district. Commenting on Ly, Mr. Lau Chong Nhia - Secretary of the Party Cell of Huoi Poc village said: "First of all, Ly is an example of studiousness not only in Huoi Poc but also in Nam Can commune. Ly is also good at doing business, many families have the labor force but not as much as Ly's family. The villagers admire him very much."

Gia Ba Ly is still constantly striving to realize his ambition. He is a typical representative of the less fortunate lives, daring to dream, yearning to go towards the sun, where life creates miracles for passionate hearts.
