Service price reduction at 35 BOT projects
Of more than 70 BOT toll stations, the Ministry of Transport has reviewed and decided to reduce fees for 35 projects.
Following the Government's direction on reducing costs for businesses since 2016, the Ministry of Transport has reviewed more than 70 operating BOT projects and decided to reduce road service fees for type 4 and type 5 vehicles (large trucks subject to high fees) of 35 projects.
27 projects have fees lower than average so they do not reduce prices, 11 projects have not reduced prices because traffic volume is lower than expected so the financial plan cannot be guaranteed if prices are reduced.

The road toll reduction plan is applied by the stations to category 4 vehicles (trucks with a load capacity from 10 tons to under 18 tons; trucks carrying goods in 20-foot containers) from VND140,000 to VND120,000 and group 5 (trucks with a load capacity from 18 tons or more; trucks carrying goods in 40-foot containers) from VND200,000 to VND180,000.
In addition, most BOT project enterprises have reduced prices for people in areas near toll stations.
According to the leader of the General Department of Roads, the general price reduction plan must still ensure the principle of ensuring the feasibility of the project's financial plan, and the toll price on the same route must be similar. The price reduction is based on the principle of consensus between the competent State agency and the investor based on the terms of the signed BOT contract.
Discounts for vehicle owners with permanent residence near toll stations also ensure the project's financial plan.
