Service fees reduced in 35 BOT projects.
Out of more than 70 BOT toll stations, the Ministry of Transport has reviewed and decided to reduce fees for 35 projects.
Following the government's directive to reduce costs for businesses since 2016, the Ministry of Transport has reviewed more than 70 operating BOT projects and decided to reduce road usage fees for vehicle categories 4 and 5 (large trucks subject to high fees) in 35 projects.
Twenty-seven projects already had fees lower than the average, so no price reductions were implemented. Eleven projects did not reduce fees because traffic volume was lower than expected, making any price reduction financially unfeasible.

The toll reduction plan applied by toll stations applies to vehicle category 4 (trucks with a load capacity from 10 tons to under 18 tons; 20-foot container trucks) from 140,000 VND to 120,000 VND and group 5 (trucks with a load capacity of 18 tons or more; 40-foot container trucks) from 200,000 VND to 180,000 VND.
In addition, most BOT project businesses have reduced tolls for residents in the areas near the toll stations.
According to the leaders of the General Department of Roads, the general price reduction plan must still ensure the financial feasibility of the project, and the toll rates on the same route must be similar. The price reduction will be based on mutual agreement between the competent state agency and the investor, in accordance with the terms of the signed BOT contract.
Offering discounts to vehicle owners with permanent residency near the toll station also ensures the project's financial viability.
