5 men used 317 million to play lottery

(Baonghean.vn) - Five men in Quynh Luu district were brought to trial and sentenced to 73 months in prison after spending more than 317 million VND on lottery gambling.

On the morning of December 19, in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district People's Court opened a mobile trial to try a criminal case against 5 defendants for the crime of "Gambling" in the form of lottery.

The five defendants brought to trial include: Ho Dien Vinh (born in 1978, residing in Hamlet 3, Quynh Minh Commune); Pham Ngoc Hong (born in 1980, residing in Phuc Thanh Hamlet, Tien Thuy Commune); Le Van Cuong (residing in Hamlet 3, Quynh Luong Commune); Nguyen Van Vinh (born in 1987, residing in Hamlet 5, Quynh Minh Commune) and Bui Duy Vinh (born in 1982, residing in Hamlet 2, Quynh Luong Commune).

According to the indictment, on October 15 and 16, Ho Dien Vinh gambled by writing lottery numbers via text messages with Vinh's phone number with Pham Ngoc Hong, Nguyen Van Vinh, Bui Duy Vinh and Le Duc Cuong.

The amount of money the subjects must bear criminal responsibility for on October 15 and 16 is more than 317 million VND.

At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Ho Dien Vinh to 30 months in prison; Pham Ngoc Hong to 24 months in prison; Nguyen Van Vinh to 9 months in prison; Le Van Cuong to 6 months in prison and Bui Duy Vinh to 4 months in prison.

This is the trial of defendants who committed the crime of gambling in the form of lottery with the largest scale and level of crime ever in Quynh Luu district.
