Murder investigation into young man who hit and killed police major

To avoid being fined for driving on a prohibited road, not wearing a helmet, and not having a license, Truong crashed his car into a traffic police officer.

Thai Nguyen City Police said they have changed the decision to prosecute the criminal case and prosecute Hoang Van Truong (24 years old) from the crime of Resisting a person on duty to the crime of Murder.

According to the police, at around 9:00 a.m. on November 30, Truong drove a motorbike carrying Truong Van Dao (23 years old) onto the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen highway in the direction of Hanoi. When reaching Km66 (through Quyet Thang commune, Thai Nguyen city), Truong's motorbike was stopped by Major Tran Van Vang (Traffic Police Department and the working group on duty requested to stop.

Knowing he was driving on a prohibited road and not wearing a helmet or a license, Truong accelerated and hit Major Vang in an attempt to escape, causing his death.

On December 2, Thai Nguyen City Police initiated a case and prosecuted Truong for the crime of Resisting a Person on Official Duty.

The 63.8 km Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway passes through Hanoi, Bac Ninh, and Thai Nguyen. This route prohibits motorbikes and non-motorized vehicles.
