A unique, fully furnished apartment project located inside a cliff and with a part jutting out into the air is planned to be built on a hillside in Calgary, Canada, called “Maralah”.

A project to build a small apartment submerged inside a cliff is being considered and planned to be built in Calgary, Canada. The famous architect Laertis-Antonios Ando Vassiliou is the designer of this unique project. |

The apartment has a special design with a part submerged in the cliff, taking advantage of the cliff faces to form interior walls and a part protruding into the air. |

The total area of the apartment is about 45 m2 and is built from concrete and glass materials with the main color being dark gray. |

Despite its small space, the apartment is fully equipped with a kitchen combined with a bar, a reading area, and a bathroom with a bathtub and shower. Below the bar/kitchen is a small storage space combined with a wardrobe. |

The bedroom is located on the cliff overhang, six steps lower than the rest of the apartment and next to a glass wall, offering panoramic views of the Bow River and surrounding area. |

The apartment project is named "Maralah," which in Native American means "this one was born from an earthquake." |

Maralah is square in shape, lying at a 45-degree angle, creating a tight connection with the cliff and the ground, making the building appear to emerge from the rock, as its name suggests. In addition, the roof is designed to be sloped and partly planted with grass, helping the building blend into the surrounding environment. |

With its unique concept and design, Laertis-Antonios Ando Vassiliou says Maralah is a secluded space and the perfect hideaway for a weekend away from the city, without the hustle and bustle. |
