In the 21st time being held, the Youth Football Tournament - Youth Football Tournament - Bao Nghe Cup 2017 ended with impressive performances by Youth Football Team Hoang Mai and Youth Football Team Quynh Luu. Defeating Youth Football Team Yen Thanh and Youth Football Team Cua Lo in the group stage, Youth Football Team Quynh Luu excellently overcame Youth Football Team Tuong Duong in the quarter-finals and Youth Football Team TP. Vinh in the semi-finals to enter the final match. The superiority in the squad helped Coach Ho Quoc Huy's students completely dominate and win the final match with a score of 4-1 against Yen Thanh, thereby successfully defending the championship title. Youth Football Team Hoang Mai also impressed when eliminating a series of strong opponents such as Quy Chau, Hung Nguyen, Cua Lo and Tan Ky to be crowned. Not only that, Youth Football Team Hoang Mai also introduced many talented players, who were later included in the SLNA U11 team.

In a year when Nghe An youth teams faced many difficulties, U11 SLNA led by coach Phan Nhu Thuat was a bright spot. Winning big against Hung Yen, Quang Ngai, Tay Ninh in the group stage, U11 SLNA continued to defeat Ha Tinh in the quarter-finals, and surpassed SHB Da Nang in the semi-finals. And finally, coach Phan Nhu Thuat and his team convincingly defeated Hai Duong to win the National Children's Football Championship for the third time. Not only that, 4 U11 SLNA players were honored with individual awards: Phung Van Nam, Nguyen Trong Tuan, Thanh Long and Quoc Trung. In addition, the U21 SLNA team also played with great effort, reached the semi-finals of the National U21 Championship and won the bronze medal.

In a year with many difficulties in terms of personnel and changes in the coaching bench, SLNA still left a strong mark in the 2017 season. Starting slowly in the first leg of the V.League, but in the second leg, the Nghe An team had many convincing matches that pleased fans. Notably, coach Nguyen Duc Thang and his team reached the National Cup final and defeated B. Binh Duong in the first and second legs with a total score of 7-2, thereby winning the National Cup for the third time. This championship is extremely meaningful to Nghe An football after 6 years without a title. With this achievement, coach Duc Thang and his students were awarded a total of nearly 2.5 billion VND. Unfortunately, after this championship, SLNA witnessed the departure of key midfielder Tran Phi Son.

Last year, the 26th National Traditional Martial Arts Championship took place in Nghe An from August 9 to 15, 2017. The tournament had the participation of more than 300 athletes from 25 provinces, cities and units in the country. After 7 days of competition, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to Ho Chi Minh City with 12 Gold Medals and 06 Silver Medals; Second Prize to Binh Dinh Province with 11 Gold Medals, 08 Silver Medals and 04 Bronze Medals; Third Prize to Khanh Hoa Province with 05 Gold Medals, 03 Silver Medals and 06 Bronze Medals. Meanwhile, with 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 5 bronze medals, the host team Nghe An ranked 6th nationwide.

On November 25 and 26, Ky Son and Con Cuong districts were the last two districts to successfully organize the district-level sports festival. The whole province completed the grassroots level festival ahead of schedule (ending on December 31, 2017). Thus, 100% of districts, cities and towns organized the sports festival seriously, on a large scale, and magnificently, mobilizing many forces to participate. Previously, from the success of the grassroots level festival, the Department of Culture - Sports continued to direct the organization of the district-level sports festival, divided into 03 clusters to organize the model festival, selecting 03 units to organize the model festival: Thanh Chuong, Quy Hop and Do Luong.
As we enter the new year 2018 with many challenges, we wish Nghe An sports will overcome all challenges and difficulties and continue to reap new successes./.
