Defeating Inter after 120 minutes of intense battle, Milan entered the Coppa Italia semi-finals
No matter the time, regardless of ups and downs, the Milan derby never lacks drama and blood and the Coppa Italia quarter-final clash is no exception.
Goal:
Milan: Cutrone (105')
Milan and Inter both entered the derby in disappointing form, having lost two consecutive Serie A games. The Rossoneri had more trouble, especially with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marco Storari injured, so Antonio Donnarumma, Gianluigi Donnarumma's brother, was given his first start in the red and black shirt.
After the opening whistle, Milan was the team that dominated the game and created more scoring situations thanks to the sublimation of the explosive Suso, who left his mark in almost all of the Rossoneri's attacks. Specifically, the red and black striped team controlled the ball up to 59%, launched a total of 12 shots, twice as many as Inter.
In the official 90 minutes, Milan hit the crossbar once, after Suso's skillful correction. Meanwhile, Inter's most significant chance was Joao Mario's close-range shot that hit Donnarumma and went wide after Mauro Icardi's header.
Into extra time, the turning point came in the 105th minute. Suso was still the difference when he made a classy pass for substitute Cutrone to run in and score the ball into the Inter net. That was also the only goal of the match, Milan won 1-0 after 120 minutes of play to advance to the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
