Earn nearly a million dong per night from selling corn and baked potatoes

((Baonghean.vn) - Shops selling grilled corn and sweet potatoes are popping up more and more in entertainment areas at night, helping businesses earn good profits, while requiring very little capital.

Around the streets of Vinh city such as: Le Duan, Dao Tan, Nguyen Phong Sac, Goong lake area... more and more shops selling grilled corn and sweet potatoes appear, attracting customers, especially young people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, who sells grilled corn and sweet potatoes in the Goong Lake area, shared: "We started selling from the beginning of November. Up to now, the number of customers has increased due to the cold weather, so the amount of goods sold has also increased."

According to research, with the price of grilled corn at 10,000 VND/ear, grilled sweet potatoes range from 8,000 - 10,000 VND/root; the business earns high profits, because the cost is only about half.

According to Ms. Mai - a business owner of this product, shared: "This job is not hard but requires hard work. You have to go to the corn growing areas in the suburbs of Vinh such as Nghi Lien, Nghi Thai, Nghi Hung,... to place orders, because there are more and more businesses. Besides, you have to stay up late, sometimes you don't get home until 2 or 3 am."

In the Goong Lake area, according to our observations, there are about 7 stalls selling grilled corn and potatoes. The tools used for selling are quite simple, including: corn, potatoes, sausages... and a charcoal stove, a simple grill and spices.

According to Ms. H, a vendor on Le Duan Street, she imports sticky corn from farmers in Nghi Lien Commune at a wholesale price of VND2,000/corn, but sells it for VND10,000. On average, each night if there are many customers, she sells about 100 corn cobs, not including other items, earning about VND1 million, she will have a profit of about VND800,000 excluding the cost of firewood, spices, etc. The cost of grilled corn and sweet potatoes at points of sale in Vinh City is the same, so many shop owners make high profits thanks to this service.

Talking to young people, Nguyen Huong Giang - a female student at Vinh University said: "On winter days, my friends and I often gather at grilled corn and sweet potato shops like this instead of going to cafes, milk tea shops, etc. These items are delicious, warm, and everyone can experience the work of grilling corn.
