IS militants attack major power plant in Syria

Rebels launched a missile attack on the Zara power plant in Hama province, the Syrian Energy Ministry said on December 28.

"Armed groups attacked the Zara power plant in Hama province with rockets, causing"This power plant suffered serious damage," - Syria's SANA news agency quoted the Energy Ministry as saying.

According to reports, due to the damage to the power plant, the duration of power outages will increase in coastal cities, in the north and in the center of Syria. Repair teams are working to bring the plant back online in the coming days.

Earlier, on the morning of December 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin landed at the Russian military base in Syria and ordered the start of the withdrawal of troops from Syria when the Russian Armed Forces had completed the mission of destroying IS in Syria.
