Trump nominates 'fake news' for CNN, Time
US President Donald Trump called on his supporters to help him award the “Fake News Trophy” to several media outlets that he accused of reporting dishonestly.

According to The Hill news agency, in an email to supporters on December 28, President Trump wrote: “Americans are tired of being lied to and disrespected. That is why President Trump wants to award the 2017 Fake News King trophy before the end of the year.”
Previously, in a comment on Twitter, the head of the White House also wrote: "We should hold a contest among the media, including CNN, to see which station is distorting political news about your honorable president (that is me)... The winner will receive the Fake News Cup."
Mr. Trump has made three nominations: ABC News with a report saying that former national security adviser Michael Flynn will testify against President Trump; CNN with a report saying that Mr. Trump and his son had easy access to WikiLeaks data; Time magazine saying that President Trump moved a statue of Martin Luther King Jr. out of the Oval Office.
The idea of awarding the Fake News Trophy once again highlights the tension between President Trump and the media. During his campaign, he criticized the media for being unfair to him. He labeled several media outlets, including CNN, as “fake news” for their dishonest reporting.
