Verifying the body suspected to be the missing Chairman of Quoc Oai district

Police are verifying the body of a man in Hoang Mai district (Hanoi) suspected to be Chairman of Quoc Oai district Nguyen Hong Lam.

How did the Chairman of Quoc Oai District go missing? Police determined that before going missing, Chairman of Quoc Oai District Nguyen Hong Lam went to Tran Duy Hung Street to park his car and then moved to the Den Lu Lake area, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi.

On the afternoon of January 3, authorities were verifying the body suspected to be Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quoc Oai district, in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi.

At around 9:00 p.m. on December 25, Mr. Lam drove a Camry car away from the district People's Committee headquarters. According to police verification, Mr. Lam then went to park his car at the parking lot at 113 Tran Duy Hung Street.

Afterwards, the Chairman of Quoc Oai district is said to have walked to lane 115 Tran Duy Hung and then moved (vehicle unknown) to Den Lu lake area, Hoang Mai district.

According to Mr. Do Lai Luat, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, at 6:35 a.m. on December 26, Mr. Lam called to ask permission from the District Party Secretary to be absent from the Standing Committee meeting. Since then, the District Chairman has been out of contact.

Faced with the unusual incident, Mr. Lam’s family filed a complaint with the police. The district also filed a report with the city.

According to Mr. Luat, Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam has been Vice Chairman for more than 10 years and was recently elected Chairman of the District People's Committee in July 2017. Mr. Lam is considered a cautious and calm person, with nothing special about his relationships. His behavior and leadership and management work are not problematic.

"The area where the last cell phone signal appeared in Hoang Mai district, the police searched every alley and knocked on every door but found nothing," Mr. Luat added.

"According to the police report, he parked his car in a parking lot in lane 113 Tran Duy Hung, which is a science and technology center, not a hotel, restaurant, motel or supermarket. On Tuesday morning (December 26), he called his son to say that his father was in trouble, but he could not be reached," Mr. Luat emphasized.
