5 heartbreaking incidents that occurred in the first days of 2018

1. Tragic accident, car hit 5 road workers and killed them

At around 3:00 p.m. on January 2, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred on the dual carriageway of Ha Giang City, in Me Thuong village, Phuong Thien commune, killing 5 workers.
Initial information from the authorities of Ha Giang province, the Hyundai Grand i10 car with license plate 23A-046.54 driven by Luong Cong Hieu (born in 1989, residing in Ngoc Linh commune, Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang) from Thanh Thuy International border gate towards Ha Giang bus station.
Due to speeding, when reaching the dual carriageway in Me Thuong village, the car veered to the left side of the road and crashed head-on into 5 workers who were constructing the dual carriageway. The accident killed two people on the spot, and 3 others were seriously injured and were taken to Ha Giang General Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite intensive care, all 3 workers died at the hospital due to severe multiple injuries.
2. Scrap warehouse explosion in Bac Ninh, 2 dead, many houses destroyed

At 4:30 a.m. on January 3, after a deafening explosion from a scrap warehouse in the middle of Quan Do village, Van Mon commune (Yen Phong, Bac Ninh), the ground shook violently, electric poles and trees fell over.
Five tiled-roof houses collapsed and created a hole about 7 meters deep and 100 square meters wide. About 10 other tiled-roof houses around them lost their roofs and collapsed walls. One of them, a three-story house near the scrap yard, lost its upper floor.
Rocks, bricks, tiles, and bullets flew from the scene, covering roofs, village roads, and alleys within a radius of about 1km. Many bullets penetrated roofs and glass doors and fell into houses. The explosion killed two children and injured many others.
3. Husband slashed his wife and then hanged himself

On the afternoon of January 2, people in Tan Phu town, Tan Phu district (Dong Nai) went to visit Mr. Vong Chuoi Chan's (30 years old) house and were surprised to discover his ex-wife, Nguyen Thi Nga (30 years old), lying dead in the house with many slashes on her body.
While the authorities were examining the scene, people found Mr. Chan dead, hanging in the backyard.
According to relatives, the couple had two children and had recently divorced. On New Year's Day, Ms. Nga took her children to visit her husband when the incident happened. "It is possible that the husband murdered his ex-wife and then hanged himself, but that is only the initial assessment. The case is under investigation," said an investigator.
4. A 7th grade female student used a red scarf to hang herself in the classroom.

On the morning of January 3, the school and students were shocked to discover that a 7th grade student at Tan Lam Secondary School (Thach Tan Commune, Thach Ha District, Ha Tinh) had died in the classroom.
It is known that the incident happened when the students in the class went to the computer room to study computer science, only L. stayed in the class.When class ended, the students returned to class to find L. dead. L. left a suicide note in both English and Vietnamese.
According to information from the school, before the incident, L. had no conflicts or disagreements with her friends. In particular, L. studied very well and was an excellent student at the school for many years.
5. The woman killed her husband and then turned herself in to the police.

On January 3, Tay Son District Police (Binh Dinh) said they are coordinating with functional units to investigate the case of a wife stabbing her husband to death in the locality.
Accordingly, due to family conflicts, on January 2, Mr. NVT (born in 1946) and Mrs. DTH (born in 1947, both residing in Dai Chi village, Tay An commune, Tay Son district) had a fight in the kitchen.
During the fight, Ms. H took a Thai knife with a 12cm long blade and 2.5cm wide blade and stabbed Mr. T in the chest, killing him on the spot. Afterwards, Ms. H covered Mr. T's body with a mat and went to Tay An Commune Police Station to confess.
