Find out the advantages of each region to orient agricultural production
(Baonghean.vn) - That was the direction of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the online conference summarizing 2017 and deploying the 2018 plan of the agricultural sector held on the morning of January 4 in Hanoi. Attending were leaders of ministries and central agencies. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired at Nghe An.
In 2017, Vietnam's GDP in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 2.9%, production value increased by 3.16% compared to 2016. The production structure continued to be adjusted appropriately and more effectively, the agricultural product consumption market was increasingly expanded, accordingly the total export turnover of the industry reached over 36 billion USD, reaching the highest level ever, up 13% compared to 2016.
In 2018, the agricultural sector strives to achieve a growth rate of about 2.8 to 3%, export turnover of 37-37 billion USD, with 37% of communes and 53 districts meeting new rural criteria.
At Nghe An, speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong stated: In 2017, despite many difficulties in weather and disease, the Nghe An Agriculture and Rural Development sector exceeded the set targets.

Spring rice yield reached the highest ever, output of many other agricultural products increased significantly, the industry's production growth rate reached 4.50%; 79% of the rural population had access to clean water; forest coverage was 57.2%; grain output reached 1.266 million tons/plan 1.217 million tons, the highest ever. Nghe An has formed many production areas associated with processing; forestry and fishery production continued to have many strong changes.
In particular, in 2017, the new rural construction program was vigorously implemented, the whole province had 29 more communes meeting the NTM standards, bringing the number of communes meeting the standards to 181, accounting for 42%, the communes reaching the NTM finish line all had no outstanding debts. The province has attracted 19 investment projects in the agricultural sector with a capital of 4,500 billion VND.
In particular, Nghe An is promoting the development of high-tech agriculture; focusing on building new modern offshore fishing boats, applying high technology in fishing, increasing the economic value of fisheries; Disaster prevention and search and rescue work is being effectively implemented.

At the conference, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also proposed a number of issues such as: Perfecting the synchronous and professional natural disaster prevention apparatus; Requesting the Government to pay attention and provide financial support for Nghe An to promptly repair and restore damaged and degraded irrigation works. At the same time, requesting the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to promptly appraise and submit to the Government for approval the Project to build Nam Dan district as a model new rural district.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized: Sectors at all levels must really join hands with the agricultural sector, together renewing thinking in agricultural production, developing hi-tech agriculture, green, clean agriculture, and smart agriculture. Localities must proactively improve their capacity, find their own advantages, produce products that the market demands and are suitable to the actual conditions of each region and locality.

In particular, adjust the reasonable structure between livestock and crop cultivation, convert ineffective rice land to more effective crops and livestock. Replicate good and creative practices, increase information exchange between localities and farmers. Ministries, branches and localities propose appropriate solutions to the Government to develop and rectify the activities of logistics services serving agricultural production. Strengthen the application of science and technology, control "input" products; promote the branding of agricultural products, conduct market research before production, promote trade promotion activities, develop markets and link production and consumption of agricultural products.

The Prime Minister assigned overseas representative agencies to coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to seek and develop markets to boost agricultural exports. The agricultural sector and localities must organize to ensure both quantity and quality of goods to serve the needs of the domestic and export markets. At the same time, proactively develop production to adapt to climate change. Strongly promote the forestry economy, strictly implement the Government's policy of closing natural forests.
