The US Air Force Intelligence and Surveillance Agency recently said that the Russian Air Force has focused on monitoring and closely following every move of its fighter jets operating in Syrian airspace.MilitaryJanuary 4 news.
"The Syrian skies are a treasure trove for the Russian air force to monitor the activities of US aircraft," said Major General VeraLinn Jamieson, deputy director of the agency.
According to General Jamieson, both Russia and China have recently closely followed and "learned" many things about tactics and weapons from the US Air Force's overseas military campaigns.
Jamieson said Russia has used the skies over Syria as a “testing ground” to research and improve the operations of cruise missiles, air-to-air missiles and other long-range strategic weapons.
Previously, a Russian pilot operating in Syria claimed that Western aircraft were always in the sights of Russian fighters operating in this Middle Eastern country.
Russian pilots believe that when encountering partners from the Western coalition, Russian aircraft always take up positions behind them, which means they can easily win air battles.
The rear of the enemy is considered the most favorable attack position for fighter jets in air combat, giving pilots a variety of options such as increasing or decreasing the distance to the target to launch bullets, while the enemy cannot detect or fight back.
