Nghe An: Commending 72 "January Star" awardees and "5 Good Students"
(Baonghean.vn) - 72 outstanding students who achieved the "5 Good Students" award and received the "January Star" award from universities and colleges in Vinh City were honored by the Provincial Youth Union.
On the evening of January 6th, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union and the Secretariat of the Nghe An Provincial Student Association solemnly organized a ceremony to commemorate the 68th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Students and the Vietnam Student Association (January 9th, 1950 - January 9th, 2018), to honor the titles of "5 Good Students", "5 Good Student Groups", and to present the January Star Award 2018 at Vinh University.
Attending the event were Comrade Pham Tuan Vinh - Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, representatives from departments, agencies, and universities and colleges in Vinh City.

At the ceremony, delegates recalled the traditional Student Day (January 9, 1950 - January 9, 2018). For the past 68 years, along with students nationwide, generations of students in Nghe An have always lived up to the fine traditions of their homeland: diligence, studiousness, overcoming difficulties, and academic excellence.
Over the years, the Vietnam Student Association of Nghe An province has always been an important socio-political organization for students in Nghe An province, serving as a bridge connecting students with the Party, the State, and the Youth Union; and as a crucial educational force in schools. The work of the Youth Union and student movements in Nghe An has consistently ranked among the top in the country.

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union hopes that all levels of the Youth Union, its members, young people, and association members will cultivate noble ideals, pure revolutionary ethics, and a healthy lifestyle, further enhancing their roles and capabilities in all activities, especially in the movement for learning, scientific research, volunteering, and social practical skills.
At the same time, widely promote among its members the importance of learning about national traditions and the traditions of the Youth Union and Youth Association; and successfully carry out the tasks of the Youth Union and the youth movement in schools during the 2017-2018 school year.

On this occasion, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union honored and awarded the January Star Award to 43 students and the "5 Good Students" title to 29 students. These are all outstanding individuals with excellent academic achievements and enthusiastic participation in Youth Union and Student Association activities.

Also at the ceremony, the organizing committee awarded 2 first prizes to the group of students from Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School and contestant Dau Ngoc Luong from Nghe An College of Culture and Arts; 2 second prizes; 6 third prizes and 18 consolation prizes to the performances participating in the "Searching for Student Talents" competition held on the morning of January 6th.

In celebration of the 68th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Students and the Vietnam Student Union, and to welcome the success of the 11th National Congress of the Youth Union, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union and the Secretariat of the Nghe An Provincial Student Union organized a series of activities: "Searching for Student Talents", "Student Festival", awarding the "January Star" prize and the "5 Good Students" title at the provincial level in 2018.
Activities took place simultaneously in all Youth Union and Student Association branches of universities, colleges, high schools, and Continuing Education Centers from January 1st to 9th, 2018.
