After going through many ups and downs in life, singer Lam Chi Khanh is striving to rediscover her gender identity and have a wedding like any other woman.

Lam Chi Khanh, whose real name is Huynh Phuong Khanh, was born in 1977 in Ho Chi Minh City. He began singing at the age of 19. Before his gender transition, Lam Chi Khanh was a popular male singer in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He gained attention with songs such as: "Eternal Sorrow," "Farewell," "Heart Thief," "Stone Love," "Winter," "Vast Sad Love," etc.

Lam Chi Khanh's hairstyles were once imitated by young people at the time.

In his early days in the profession, Lam Chi Khanh became acquainted with many famous artists such as Minh Thuan, Minh Nhi, Y Phung, Phuong Thanh, Viet Trinh... Singer Ha My and Minh Thuan advised him to adopt the stage name Lam Chi Khanh, after the singer-actor Lin Chi Ying (Taiwan). His bright stage presence and pleasant singing voice helped Lam Chi Khanh quickly make a name for himself. He also achieved success singing duets with several colleagues such as Dan Truong, Thanh Thao...

The "Heart Without Peace" live show in late 2006 was seen as a message about Lam Chi Khanh's sexuality. The show caused a stir at the time because both the singer and the guest performers lip-synced from beginning to end, while the main performer focused too much on changing costumes, neglecting the content.

After this live show, Lam Chi Khanh almost disappeared from showbiz for several years to undergo gender reassignment surgery. In 2012, she made her first public appearance with her new look. After initial shyness, the singer quickly regained her confidence when posing in front of the cameras. This event created a sensation in the media and attracted public curiosity at the time.

Initially, Lam Chi Khanh's facial features and physique were quite masculine. The singer stated that she did not undergo any facial cosmetic surgery. In her autobiography "Transformation" (published in 2017), she shared her arduous and painful journey, both physically and mentally, to live as her true self. The greatest comfort for the singer was the boundless and unconditional love of her parents.

In recent years, her face has become softer and more feminine. She also shared that she is satisfied with her current beautiful appearance. She enjoys wearing outfits that show off her cleavage.

Lam Chi Khanh's first live show since her gender transition, held in 2013 and titled "If Given the Choice," generated high expectations but ultimately failed due to poor sound quality, a disjointed script, and a chaotic mix of transgender guests who left no lasting impression.

After transitioning to gender reassignment surgery, she changed her stage name to Khanh Chi Lam and later to Lam Khanh Chi. The singer experienced two failed relationships. The first person she publicly announced her marriage to was Nguyen Cuong (pictured). However, in April 2014, they separated after three years without revealing the reason. Upon the end of this relationship, Lam Khanh Chi stated that she was very sad and heartbroken.

Her next relationship was with Kenny Thang (Nguyen Van Thang), her first love at the age of 18. After Kenny Thang moved to the US, they lost contact. In 2015, they rekindled their romance, with Thang returning to Vietnam to propose. However, they broke up again in August 2015.

After overcoming many ups and downs in her love life, the singer found her life partner in businessman Phi Hung, who is eight years younger than her. Their love is supported by both families. In fact, her husband's parents are urging their son to get married soon. The transgender beauty's wedding will take place with all the traditional rituals, including two ceremonies to welcome the bride and two wedding receptions in Vung Tau and Saigon (to be held on January 11th).
