That is the guiding spirit of the Ministry of Transport in the telegram on ensuring traffic safety and improving the quality of maintenance of BOT traffic projects.

To ensure traffic safety and improve the quality of maintenance of BOT projects, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) has just issued a telegram requesting the Vietnam Road Administration, the Traffic Project Management Boards, local Departments of Transport and investors of BOT projects to strengthen the work of ensuring traffic safety and order and improving the quality of road maintenance for BOT traffic projects.

According to the requirements of the Ministry of Transport, BOT project investors must regularly inspect the roads they are constructing. If any damage or deterioration is discovered during the warranty period, they must immediately direct the contractors to promptly repair it. In addition, maintenance work must also be carried out in accordance with regulations and ensure quality on BOT roads.

For the Vietnam Road Administration, the Traffic Construction Management Boards and local Departments of Transport, the Ministry of Transport assigns the responsibility to regularly inspect and urge project enterprises, BOT investors and related units to promptly repair and maintain roads when damage or deterioration occurs to ensure construction quality and traffic safety.

In case any project is discovered to not promptly repair damage or to maintain quality, affecting traffic safety, the Vietnam Road Administration will request the investor to stop collecting fees at that project.

According to the Ministry of Transport, in the past, management, exploitation and maintenance in the exploitation and use phase for roads invested, upgraded and expanded under the BOT form still had many limitations compared to the requirements. On some BOT roads, there were damaged road surfaces and road signaling systems as well as unclean drainage systems.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport also emphasized the tasks of ensuring traffic safety and improving the quality of maintenance of BOT projects of relevant units in Official Dispatch No. 76 dated December 12, 2017 on ensuring traffic safety during the New Year, Lunar New Year and Spring Festival season in 2018.
