He heartlessly murdered his wife because he felt "rejected" by their relationship.
In a drunken rage, he wanted to be intimate with his wife but was rejected. In a fit of madness, he took her life.
I met Dinh Van Hue when the North was entering its bitterly cold days. At that time, Hue had just been brought to the headquarters by detectives from the Criminal Police Department of Phu Tho province. Hue was small, dwarfed in his worn-out coat, his hands calloused, looking very haggard... Hue answered my questions hesitantly, his jumbled memories sometimes difficult to understand.

| The suspect is Dinh Van Hue (36 years old, residing in Zone 9, Xuan Thuy Commune, Yen Lap District, Phu Tho Province). |
They thought that their married life would become less difficult from then on, and that they would continue to work together to raise their three children, both boys and girls, to be good people, but little did they know...
According to Hue's testimony, the tragedy in their marriage began in early 2017, when Hue suspected Nga of infidelity. Previously, Nga often went to work with Hue on a motorbike, but later she stopped going to work with her husband. Hue suspected Nga was having an affair with a construction contractor in the village because she frequently left early and returned late.
Whenever this man called, Nga was very happy, but with Hue, she was often irritable. Then, one time, Nga came home late, and when Hue went to look for her, he found his wife standing and talking to a man on the street. This time, Hue and the man had a heated argument, which prompted the local police to intervene.
On June 7, 2017, driven by jealousy, Hue, after drinking alcohol, assaulted Nga and destroyed property. This time, Nga filed a report. The incident was subsequently investigated by the commune police in coordination with local authorities, but the couple's conflict continued to simmer.
Although they lived in the same house, Hue and Nga were like strangers. Nga wouldn't answer Hue's questions, wouldn't cook for Hue, and wouldn't let Hue touch her... and they often talked about divorce. Nga buying a new motorbike without telling Hue and going to beauty salons only fueled Hue's jealousy. But instead of finding a solution, Hue turned to alcohol to forget her troubles.
The conflict reached its peak at 11 PM on January 8th. That day, after drinking alcohol, Hue staggered home to find Nga and their children had already turned off the lights and gone to bed. Initially, Hue went to bed (Hue slept in one room and Nga in another), but partly because he missed his wife, and partly because of the alcohol, he went to Nga's bed.
The moment Hue touched Nga, Nga immediately started insulting and hurling insults at Hue. Their arguments and verbal abuse were commonplace, but that day, perhaps due to the alcohol, Hue lost control of herself.
As for Nga, after hurling insults, he also challenged Hue with provocative words. At that point, the jealous man lost control of himself; he ran into the kitchen and grabbed a sharp knife, initially intending only to threaten his wife. Nga continued to chase Hue out of the house... Suddenly, Hue hugged Nga tightly. Nga struggled, trying to escape Hue's grip, but Hue unexpectedly stabbed him with the knife.
Nga clutched her stomach and ran towards the cornfield a few hundred meters from the house. Hue chased after her. When he saw his wife fall to the ground, Hue repeatedly stabbed her until she lost consciousness. At this point, Hue seemed to snap out of his daze. He ran to the house of his two older brothers and told them what had happened. After everyone had taken Nga to the hospital for emergency treatment, Hue went to the police station to surrender.
When we mentioned her three children, the oldest 12 and the youngest only 5, Hue's eyes welled up with tears, expressing deep remorse: "There were times when I thought about divorce, but I felt sorry for my three children. We've lived together and had three children; it would be so cruel to them if we separated..."
Recently, numerous murders motivated by jealousy have occurred across the country. The defendants I met and spoke with, including Hue, all stated that they loved their children and wives dearly, but what justifies Hue's criminal actions at this time?
If what Hue said is true, that he truly loves his wife, then even if they can't find common ground, perhaps he could still treat her better for the sake of their two children. Because after a family breaks apart, the ones who suffer the most are always the innocent children.
Then Hue confided in me about his worries. Because on that horrific night of the murder, after the loud argument between his parents, Hue's eldest son woke up and became the only witness to the heartbreaking event. Hue worried that those images would affect the childhood of his innocent son...
