Prime Minister sends congratulatory letter to Vietnam U23 team

On the evening of January 17, after the Vietnam U23 team drew with the Syria U23 team and won the right to enter the quarter-finals of the AFC U23 Championship, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a letter to the Vietnam U23 team congratulating them on this result.

Before the final match of Group D of the 2018 AFC U23 Championship, all 4 teams still have a chance to continue. A slight advantage belongs to U23 Vietnam and U23 Korea, as these two teams only need to draw with their opponents to secure a ticket to the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, U23 Australia and U23 Syria must win to have the right to decide for themselves.

In the match that Vietnamese fans were very interested in between U23 Vietnam and U23 Syria, Coach Park Hang-seo's students played enthusiastically and completed the goal set by the coaching staff, which was to draw with their opponents.

After 90 minutes of play, the two teams tied 0-0 and with this result, U23 Vietnam ranked 2nd in Group D, thereby winning a ticket to the quarterfinals for the first time in history.

Witnessing U23 Vietnam create a miracle at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc was very happy and sent a congratulatory letter to coach Park Hang-seo and his team.

The Prime Minister's congratulatory letter reads:

"Today, I am very happy to receive good news from the AFC U23 Championship Finals. Our Vietnam U23 team played excellently in all three matches and passed the group stage, reaching the quarter-finals of this tournament for the first time, bringing pride to the Fatherland and fans nationwide, demonstrating the determination and strong will to rise of the young generation of Vietnam.

On behalf of the Government, I would like to congratulate and warmly commend the entire Vietnam U23 Football Team, especially the Korean Coach Park Hang-seo. I hope that our entire delegation will continue to promote the achieved results, uphold the spirit of solidarity, discipline, practice hard, and be determined to compete and win more achievements, for the sake of the Vietnamese flag and colors."
