The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the Trade Office in Thailand has received a number of requests from Vietnamese businesses for support in handling fraud cases during contact and commercial transactions with Thai businesses.

Specifically, many Vietnamese businesses search for Thai manufacturers and exporters on the internet and conduct transactions without fully verifying information about their partners.

Taking advantage of the subjective mentality, greed for cheapness and lack of foreign trade expertise of some Vietnamese enterprises, there have been many cases of Thai enterprises defrauding Vietnamese importers of deposits and refusing to deliver goods, especially for A4 paper.

In order to support Vietnamese enterprises in the process of searching for information about partners in Thailand and to limit unfortunate incidents during transactions, the Vietnam Trade Office in Thailand recommends that Vietnamese enterprises must clearly verify their partners, especially partners who are doing transactions for the first time.

In addition, limit searching and transacting with customers on unreliable websites and do not verify business information.

Due to the relatively close geographical distance between Vietnam and Thailand and convenient flight routes, businesses should go directly to the area to assess and work directly with partners or can ask official channels such as the Vietnam Trade Office to verify information.

According to this Trade Agreement, Thai enterprises register their business licenses with the Department of Business Development. Business registration information is posted on the portal www.dbd.go.th/Applications/cds/.

To avoid impersonation and fraud, it is necessary to carefully check information about the business name, contact phone number and email address using the company domain name instead of public domains such as yahoo, gmail,...

In addition, the Trade Office also notes that during the exchange process, absolutely do not share personal information, perform transactions as requested by the partner (transfer money for visa, prepay the value of the shipment, pay for any additional costs). For transactions during the working process, request the partner to provide complete information with invoices for easy verification with the competent authority.

Regarding import-export payments, when negotiating and signing contracts, Vietnamese enterprises should choose safe payment methods and delivery methods.

Furthermore, the contract must clearly stipulate the terms of compensation and the dispute resolution agency to serve as a basis for resolution when disputes arise. In particular, do not sign the contract and send it electronically, share it on social networking applications (Viber, Facebook, Line, etc.) or via email.

In addition, Vietnamese enterprises should not accept TT payment (prepayment of a portion of the total transaction value) when they do not know clearly about the partner enterprise because many Vietnamese enterprises have been unable to contact their Thai partners after transferring money.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said: When detecting any suspicion during the transaction process, enterprises can contact the Vietnam Trade Office in Thailand at the address: 83/1 Wireless Road, Lumpini, Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330 Thailand. Phone: (+66) (0) 2251 3352 (Ext. 118). Email:[email protected];[email protected].
