Focus on promoting and orienting women's thinking through social networks
(Baonghean.vn) - Innovating the operation methods of all levels of the association; limiting the reporting of "fake" data; overcoming difficulties in the operating budget of grassroots women's associations... are issues discussed at the conference to summarize the association's work and women's movement in 2017, and deploy tasks in 2018.
The conference was held in Vinh City on the morning of January 19. Attending and directing the conference was comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission. Attending the conference were representatives of the Women's Union of districts, cities and towns in the province.

Assessment at the conference showed that in 2017, all levels of the association from the provincial to the grassroots level proactively developed plans, implemented key tasks, emulation contents, and leadership models suitable for localities and units.
During the year, all levels of the association in the province raised more than 3 billion VND to support and help the families of members and poor students; more than 2.3 billion VND to support the construction and repair of houses for women members in difficult circumstances...
The Women's Union at all levels has also proactively exploited programs and projects, effectively maintained the entrusted lending activities from the Social Policy Bank, and secured loans from the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development with a total capital of over VND 3,000 billion, lending to over 239,900 households. Through activities to support women in sustainable poverty reduction, the Women's Union at all levels has helped over 21,000 poor households headed by women, of which 536 households have escaped poverty.

However, in addition to the achievements, the activities of the association at all levels still face many difficulties and limitations. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - President of the Women's Union of Yen Thanh district said that innovating the organization's operation methods is an urgent requirement. In fact, the Women's Union has many activities during the year, but the operation methods are still stereotyped, the operation time is limited, and it mainly relies passively on the instructions of superiors.
Along with that, the economy of commune-level associations is very difficult, the average level is only about 10 million VND/year, leading to "powerlessness" in implementing activities. This situation does not only occur in Yen Thanh district but is a common difficulty of many other associations at all levels.
Regarding the work of gathering members, the biggest challenge for the Women's Union in mountainous districts is the remote terrain, the great time and effort required to travel, which limits activities. The President of the Women's Union of Tuong Duong district expressed that there are hardships that only women working in the highlands can understand.
“Every time we go to the base, we have to notify 1 week, 10 days in advance. There are many villages where motorbikes are not available, we have to rent a motorboat, then walk for hours to get to the village. When we get there, we sometimes have to “work together” with the women for many days to propagate and mobilize.”

Listening to the thoughts and aspirations of women working in associations at all levels, Comrade Thai Thanh Quy, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, acknowledged the role and contributions of women in the development of all aspects of the province's socio-economic life. Basically agreeing with the assessment report and direction of the association's activities in 2018, Comrade Thai Thanh Quy emphasized a number of key tasks.
Accordingly, in the coming time, in propaganda and mobilization work, all levels of the association need to focus on diversifying propaganda forms on cyberspace, contributing to orienting public opinion; in mobilizing and supporting women to start creative businesses, it is necessary to pay attention to equipping women with knowledge and economic management skills; in the work of building the association organization and monitoring and social criticism, it is necessary to pay more attention to women in special areas...

On this occasion, the Provincial Women's Union launched and signed a commitment to the emulation movement in 2018. At the conference, the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit was also awarded to Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huyen - Head of the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Women's Union and the title of Provincial Emulation Fighter for the period 2014 - 2017 to Ms. Le Thi Huong Giang - Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union; many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements were also awarded Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union and the Nghe An Provincial Women's Union.
