Murderer caught after 10 years on the run
After murdering his neighbor, the subject fled to Tuyen Quang province and lived with his "temporary" wife...
On the afternoon of January 20, the Criminal Investigation Department of Binh Phuoc Province Police handed over Nguyen Van Chien (58 years old, residing in Tan Hung Commune, Hon Quan District, Binh Phuoc) to the Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police to resume the investigation of the murder case under its authority. The subject has been wanted by Binh Phuoc Province Police for more than 10 years for murder.
According to the police: On May 6, 2007, Chien and Le Van Chung (56 years old, both living in Tan Hung commune) drank alcohol at the house of Nguyen Xuan Giao (56 years old).
At 7pm that same day, Chien and Mr. Chung got into an argument but were promptly stopped by everyone. Mr. Chung left and went home.
However, Chien went home (about 100m away) and took a knife to Chung's house to resolve the conflict.
There, Chien cursed and insulted Chung. Then, the two got into a fight. During the fight, Chien stabbed Chung in the chest, killing him on the spot. After committing the crime, Chien fled to Tuyen Quang province to live.

After many years of verification and arrest, on January 17, the working group of the Criminal Investigation Department of Binh Phuoc Provincial Police coordinated with the Criminal Investigation Department of Tuyen Quang Provincial Police to arrest Nguyen Van Chien while he was hiding with his "temporary" wife in Thien Tan Hamlet, Thien Ke Commune, Tuong Duong District, Tuyen Quang.
Immediately afterwards, Chien was extradited from Tuyen Quang province to Binh Phuoc to continue investigation and handling of the murder.
