Tomorrow morning, Mr. Dinh La Thang and his accomplices will receive the Court's verdict.
Tomorrow morning (January 22), the Hanoi People's Court will announce the verdict against Dinh La Thang, Trinh Xuan Thanh and accomplices in the case of intentionally violating State regulations on economic management causing serious consequences and embezzlement.
After many days of extended recess for the first instance criminal trial of Mr. Dinh La Thang, former Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), and Trinh Xuan Thanh, former Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC), and accomplices in the case of intentionally violating State regulations on economic management causing serious consequences and the crime of embezzlement of property occurring at PVC, tomorrow morning (January 22), the Hanoi People's Court will announce the verdict for Mr. Thang and accomplices.

During the previous trial, the representative of the Procuracy exercising the right to prosecute presented his views on this case and proposed sentences for the defendants.

After analyzing and evaluating the role, behavior and level of crime of each defendant, the representative of the Procuracy proposed sentences for the defendants. Accordingly, former Chairman of the Board of Members of PVN Dinh La Thang was proposed to be sentenced to 14-15 years in prison for intentionally violating state regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences.
For the same crime, former PVN General Director Phung Dinh Thuc was proposed to be sentenced to 12-13 years in prison. Trinh Xuan Thanh, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVC, was proposed to be sentenced to 13-14 years in prison for intentionally violating state regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences; and life imprisonment for embezzlement. The combined penalty for both crimes is life imprisonment.

Vu Duc Thuan, former General Director of PVC, was sentenced to 8-9 years in prison for intentionally violating state regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences; and 18-19 years in prison for embezzlement. The combined sentence for both crimes is 26-28 years in prison.
