Husband sells wife to China for spending money

On the morning of January 23, the People's Procuracy of Ky Son district approved the decision to prosecute the accused and the detention order of the Ky Son Police Investigation Agency against Lu Van Duong (born in 1994, residing in Dinh Son 1 village, Huu Kiem commune, Ky Son district) to investigate the crime of "Human trafficking".
Lu Van Duong was arrested by Ky Son District Police on the evening of January 22 after receiving a complaint from Khun Thi C. - Duong's wife (residing in Huu Kiem Commune, Ky Son) for tricking her into selling her to China.
Previously, at the end of April 2017, Lu Van Duong was working as a factory worker in Hanoi when he received a call from his cousin, Lu Van Khoa. This person said that Duong sold his wife to China and would receive money to spend. At that time, Duong and his wife were separated, and Ms. C. was working as a hired worker in Cua Lo town.
When her husband asked her to go to China to work for money, C. did not agree because she did not want to be away from her family. But Duong threatened that if she did not go, C.'s family would have to pay back the 40 million VND they had borrowed from Duong before. Because the family had no money, C. agreed to go.
Duong went from Hanoi to Cua Lo town to pick up C. and take her to Dien Chau. There, Duong and his wife were picked up by Lu Van Khoa and a woman and took a bus to Mong Cai city (Quang Ninh). After that, the whole group crossed the border to China.
There, Khoa and his wife took Duong and her husband to Moong Thi Tam's house (married to a Chinese man) to find someone to sell C. Four days later, a Chinese man came to meet her and bought C. for 70,000 NDT (about 250 million VND). Duong was given 6,000 NDT (about 22 million VND), which Duong spent all.
On December 16, 2017, Ms. C. fled back to Vietnam and filed a complaint against Duong. On the evening of January 22, Duong was arrested while working as a construction worker in Tam Quang commune (Tuong Duong).
At the investigation agency, Lu Van Duong admitted all his actions. Currently, the case is being expanded to investigate related subjects.
