(Baonghean.vn) - The outbreak was discovered at Mr. Nguyen Van Thoi's family farm, Hamlet 7, Dien Lien commune, Dien Chau district.

The farm has 780 broiler chickens, weighing from 1 to 1.5 kg/chicken. From the first case detected on January 17, 2018, to January 19, 2018, 115 chickens were sick and 65 died. According to the owner, the chickens were vaccinated against Newcastle disease on September 12, 2017 and fowl cholera on October 22, 2017, but not against avian influenza.

The authorities and local authorities have announced on Dien Lien commune's radio station about the epidemic situation, the danger level of bird flu and instructed people on disease prevention measures. Immediately after the poultry flock tested positive for the H5N1 Avian Influenza virus, on the morning of January 21, the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station coordinated with local authorities to destroy the entire poultry flock of this household according to the correct procedure.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Bon - Head of Dien Chau District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station said: The provincial Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department has also provided 20,000 doses of avian influenza vaccine and 60 liters of chemicals for Dien Chau to deploy epidemic prevention. Vaccination of poultry in the epidemic area and surrounding areas has been carried out since the morning of January 22.
