Afghanistan: Suicide bombing death toll rises to 338
Afghan officials say the death toll from a horrific suicide bombing in the capital Kabul has risen to 338.
According toRTAs of now, the suicide bombing that occurred yesterday, January 27, in the capital Kabul (Afghanistan) has killed 103 people and injured 235 others.
Earlier, in a statement released immediately after the bombing, Afghan officials said the incident had killed 95 people and injured 158 others.
A suicide bomber disguised as a driver drove the bomb-laden ambulance to the scene and detonated it, having previously bypassed at least one checkpoint.
The attacker told police he was transferring a patient to Jamhuriat hospital, said Nasrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for Afghanistan's Interior Ministry.
The Taliban terrorist organization has now claimed responsibility for the incident.
The attack comes just a week after gunmen stormed the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul. Hundreds of people were taken hostage for 12 hours. At least six people were killed in the attack, and all four Taliban gunmen were killed.
