Dozens of businesses missing, owing billions in taxes
The number of businesses that owe and "disappear" and are unable to recover their debts falls into the fields of leather shoe and garment production.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Deputy Director of Binh Duong Customs, said that by the end of 2017, the whole province had 95 enterprises with specialized tax debts of nearly 90 billion VND, of which overdue debts and forced collection debts were 67 billion VND. Most of the enterprises that were in difficulty in collecting tax debts, dissolved, stopped operations, were slow to collect, and the debts of missing enterprises that could not be recovered were in the fields of leather shoe and garment production.

"Currently, the Provincial Customs Department is coordinating with relevant agencies to verify information on business activities; coordinating with banks to verify account information in order to apply measures to withdraw bank deposits to pay the budget," said Mr. Giang.
However, according to the Deputy Director of Binh Duong Customs, the above figure does not affect the target, the revenue plan for 2017 only accounts for 0.49% of the total budget revenue of 13,448 billion VND; exceeding the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance of 11,500 billion VND and later supplemented to 12,900 billion VND. In addition, Binh Duong Customs also discovered 525 violations in the customs field with the amount of more than 13 billion VND, determined tax on 208 cases with the amount of 64.7 billion VND; transferred to the competent authority to prosecute the case of smuggling of goods worth 8 billion VND.
