Nghe An: Consumer price index increased by nearly 2%

(Baonghean.vn) - The consumer price index (CPI) in January 2018 in Nghe An province increased by 1.99% compared to December 2017, and increased by 2.58% over the same period.

  • January - the month before Lunar New Year 2018, the commodity market in the province last month was bustling, the quantity of goods and purchases increased compared to the previous month.

    But the main reason for the CPI increase this month is that health examination services at public health facilities in the province have been adjusted up to 29.3% according to the roadmap stipulated in Circular 02/2017/TT-BYT, pushing the group of medicines and medical services up 21.79%.

    8/11 groups of goods and services increased compared to the previous month but the increase was low, specifically: Food and catering services increased by 0.33% (of which, food increased by 1.28%, foodstuff increased by 0.18%, eating out increased by 0.09%); beverages and tobacco increased by 0.21%; clothing, hats, footwear increased by 0.36%; housing, electricity, water, fuel, construction materials increased by 0.93%; household equipment and utensils increased by 0.47%; transportation increased by 0.60%; culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.06%; other goods and services increased by 0.22%.

    During the month, there was one group of goods with stable prices, which was post and telecommunications, and one group with decreased prices, which was education, down 0.11% compared to the previous month.

    Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in January 2018 is estimated at VND 5,306 billion, up 9.6% compared to January 2017, of which total monthly retail sales of goods is estimated at VND 4,344 billion, up 8.97% compared to January 2017.

    According to the Department of Industry and Trade, consumer demand in the months before, during and after Tet increased by about 30-40% compared to other months, with total retail sales of goods reaching over VND4,500 billion/month.
