Speaking to reporters on the morning of February 6 at his home in Nui Dat hamlet, My Thanh Trung 2 village, Hoa Phong commune, Tay Hoa district, Mr. Vo Van Nhi (55 years old) - the biological father of Vo Van Ty (22 years old) - the victim who died in this serious crime said: "My wife and I have 4 children, Ty is the third child in the family...".

The victim's eldest brother, Vo Van Hanh (35 years old), recounted: "At noon on February 4, Ty and some friends pooled money to buy beer and had a drinking party right in front of his sister Vo Thi Thu Huyen's (31 years old) house next to her parents' house.

Among the nearly 10 young men sitting at the drinking party was a fellow villager named Phan Van Danh. The drinking party lasted from noon to evening when Danh received a phone call from Le Ngoc Tuan (20 years old), residing in My Thanh Trung 1 village, Hoa Phong commune.

Because Tuan was his sister’s boyfriend, Danh invited Tuan to drink with him. I was sleepy at the time, so I walked home half an hour later and the murder happened…”.

Two of the six victims are being treated for their injuries at Phu Yen General Hospital.

Nguyen Van Dung (22 years old), residing in Quang My village, Hoa My Tay commune - one of the 7 injured victims, said: "In the middle of a drinking party, a conflict arose between Ty and Tuan, leading to an argument and a challenge to each other. Perhaps because of anger because a stranger, who was invited to drink by a fellow villager but loudly caused trouble, Ty used his foot to kick Tuan from the porch down the steps. Tuan jumped up, pulled out a switchblade he was carrying in his pocket, and stabbed Ty twice in the stomach and chest. 7 people in the drinking party rushed in to stop him, but Tuan swung his knife wildly and killed him."

After being taken to the Tay Hoa District Medical Center for emergency treatment, all 8 victims were transferred to Phu Yen Provincial General Hospital. Due to a penetrating wound to the heart, victim Vo Van Ty died at 2 a.m. on February 5.

Ty's younger brother, Vo Van Han (19 years old), was seriously injured and was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital - Ho Chi Minh City. The remaining 5 victims with stab wounds to the arms, chest, and abdomen are being treated at the General Surgery Department of Phu Yen Provincial General Hospital. They are Truong Anh Do (19 years old), Phan Van Danh (17 years old), residing in My Thanh Trung 2 village, Hoa Phong commune; Nguyen Van Dung (22 years old), Tran Van Chay (21 years old) - residing in Quang My village, Hoa My Tay commune and Nguyen Trong Vuong (22 years old), residing in Phu Nong village, Hoa Binh 1 commune, Tay Hoa district.

The injured victims being treated at Phu Yen General Hospital all said that when Tuan jumped up to attack victim Vo Van Ty, no one in the group saw the perpetrator holding a knife, but mistook it for a fist fight so they rushed in to stop him, not expecting that this subject used a switchblade hidden in his pocket to commit the rampage.

After committing the crime, Tuan pretended to be unconscious in the rice field in front of the scene. The victim's family did not know he was a maniac so they helped him into the yard to wash his face.

A few minutes later, Tuan caused a traffic accident while driving a motorbike more than 400 meters away from the crime scene and was injured. His relatives took him to Phu Yen Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment before he was detained.
