Nghe An police seize nearly 5 tons of fireworks before Tet Mau Tuat

(Baonghean.vn) - After nearly 4 months of implementing a plan to prevent and combat fireworks and explosives, Nghe An Provincial Police have discovered and arrested more than 400 cases and more than 500 subjects with violations related to fireworks.

On February 7, Nghe An Police held a conference to disseminate information on security and order and firecracker prevention for the 2018 Lunar New Year. Colonel Le Khac Thuyet - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department chaired the conference.

Identifying the key and complicated nature of violations of the law on fireworks, since September 2017, Nghe An Police have proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan to prevent and combat violations of fireworks before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2018.

To implement this, the Provincial Police have developed a plan and directed local police to focus on synchronously and drastically applying professional measures to combat violations.

After nearly 4 months of implementation, Nghe An Police discovered and arrested 418 cases, 505 subjects with violations related to fireworks, confiscating nearly 4.9 tons of fireworks of all kinds, an increase of 2.2 tons compared to the same period in 2017. In addition, 3 cases, 4 subjects were arrested for illegal storage and transportation of explosives, confiscated 20 kg of explosives, 114 detonators, and more than 10 meters of slow-burning wire.

Through inspections and mobilizations, the police also recovered 3 AK guns, 1 K44 military gun, 317 homemade guns, 91 pellet guns, etc., contributing to preventing subjects from using weapons and supporting tools to commit crimes as well as accidents caused by weapons and explosives.

According to Colonel Le Khac Thuyet, to continue effectively implementing the peak period of crime suppression, especially near Tet, the provincial police will continue to concentrate forces, synchronously deploy professional measures, and fiercely attack all types of crime.
